Background
The Pillar of Dawn has held a Fighter Wing since it's commissioning. However it was originally assigned the Third Tactical Wing, later, once it took over as the United States Space Fleet Flagship, it was reassigned the First Tactical Wing. Its wing also started with a standard compliment of 36 F-302's, this has sense gone on to be modified to keep with the times. Currently her Fighter Craft represent one of the most advanced units in the fleet.
More to come.
Current Structure First Tactical Wing - USS Pillar of Dawn
Early Warning and Logistics Support Squadron 7 (VAW-7)
First Lieutenant Samuel Nicolette, USMC - M-VU Pilot
Command Structure The Commanding Officer (CO) gives orders to the Commander, Air Group (CAG). The Commander, Air Group (CAG) gives orders to the Squadron Leaders (SLs). The Squadron Leaders (SLs) give orders to Flight Leaders (FLs) or Pilots directly.
Commander, Air Group The CAG is the ranking Fighter Pilot on the ship, regardless if other pilots hold the same rank, the CAG automatically outranks them. The CAG serves as a ship senior officer and reports directly to the ships Commander. The CAG can fly with any Squadron, assuming direct command of that Squadron with the normal Squadron Leader becoming his Wingman.

F-302 C/D : Multirole Attack Aerospace Fighter
The 302 is the first successful mass production craft produced by the Stargate Program. It has sense become the mainstay in Earth's Fleets carrier on most Carrier ands found on many off world bases. The current models is a updated version of the F-302 Fighter-Interceptor. Availbe in two current moddles; F-302C (Dual Seater) and F-302D (Sigle Seater). When a F-302 is destroyed, it emits an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) which can easily interfere with electrical and communications signals. Despite several new types of fighters the 302 is still the mainstay in Earth's Fleet, and many veteran pilots still favor the 302. Recent modifications found in the C and D series are believed to extend the life of the craft, featuring an increased armament capacity, higher speeds and more effective internal systems.

M-UV "Jumper": Multirole Utility Vehicle
Gateships, also known as Puddle Jumpers, are small spacecraft created by the Ancients. First encountered by SG-1 they entered wider use by Stargate Personnel during the Atlantis Expedition. They are one of the only crafts capable of Atmospheric, Aquatic, and Interplanetary travel as well as traveling through Stargates. Gateships feature retractable thrusters that allow them to travel through a Stargate, as well as powerful drone weapons for self-defense and a cloaking device to avoid detection. They are operated via neural interface, and so the ATA gene is required to activate and pilot the ship. The jumpers also carries a portable DHD to dial addresses regardless if the Stargate is orbital or not. These have been modified to permit quick change over from Milky Way to Pegasus Galaxy gate systems. All Jumpers now have the ability to relatively easily switch between cloak and shield, however there is a window of several seconds during the transition wear the craft would be vaulaarable. Jumpers utilize subspace communications systems to facilitate real-time communications between locations. Jumpers also provide a reasonable amount of storage, this allows the craft to carry up to 20 passengers, large amounts of supplies or equipment or a commendation of the two. Recently they have been given the designation MUVs (Multirole Utility Vehicle) by the US Military, but are still known as Jumpers or Gateships.

Ah... it seems like I've been succeeded as CAG of the Pillar of Dawn. I'm glad to see that you've kept my aircraft, Ben. That's a good sentiment. I've been working on a new easy to produce fighter that could be easily and swiftly deployed to all SG carriers. And in case you didn't know, I'm also Panzer Von Reichter on the HQ Forums, so yes, I'm the mastermind behind Shadow Wings Aviation, which has been fully supported and backed up by Tenjin for the past year.
Although we now only have three ships on this forum, I've been thinking on making a fighter squadron based simm that doesn't operate off of a specific ship, but instead off land bases and other carriers as well. I haven't brought the idea up to Asid yet, but I'm planning to.
On a separate note, I'd like to point out that the Wolverine is MT-305. It's not to be used as a fighter. Think the UH-1 Huey from the Vietnam War.
Cheers, Edward Hamilton
